Questions about acupressure

What is acupressure?
A traditional Chinese practice of pressing specific points on the body with the fingers or thumb. It's the "needle-free" cousin of acupuncture — same point map, no needles.
How is it different from acupuncture?
Acupuncture uses fine needles; acupressure uses pressure. Both draw on the same traditional point system. Acupressure is something you can do yourself, anywhere.
Do I need to believe in it for it to "work"?
No. People use it simply as a physical calming routine — like stretching or deep breathing. It's a tool, not a belief system.
Is it safe to try?
For most people, gentle self-pressure is low-risk. A few points (Spleen 6, Large Intestine 4) are traditionally avoided in pregnancy. It's a wellness practice, not a replacement for medical care.
